The Journey Begins: Sedona to Tuzigoot National Monument

Leaving behind the red rock landscapes of Sedona, we carve our way through the Verde Valley, passing by the base of Tuzigoot National Monument, an ancient 1,000-year-old Sinagua pueblo perched on a ridge. This area is rich in history and offers a glimpse into Arizona’s Indigenous past.

Through the Ghost Town of Jerome – “The Wickedest Town in the West

From Tuzigoot, we roll into Clarkdale, a historic railroad town, before climbing the winding roads into Jerome, once a booming copper mining town infamous for its lawless past. Now a lively ghost town filled with art, history, and remnants of its mining heritage, Jerome sits high above the Verde Valley, offering incredible views of the desert below.

Mingus Mountain & Perkinsville – A Hidden Arizona Gem

Continuing our ascent, we leave Jerome behind and head into the Mingus Mountains, where sweeping switchbacks and breathtaking panoramic views of the Verde Valley and Sedona’s red rocks unfold before us. Dropping down from the peaks, we ride through Perkinsville, a forgotten railroad village where only an abandoned train station and an old bridge remain, echoing a time when steam locomotives passed through the valley.

Into the Ponderosa Pines – The Largest Pine Forest in the World

As we climb higher in elevation, the landscape shifts dramatically from desert terrain to alpine forests. We ride through the largest stand of Ponderosa pine trees in the world, breathing in the crisp mountain air as we near our destination.

Destination: Williams, Arizona & Route 66

Our journey reaches Williams, Arizona, a classic Route 66 town brimming with Old West charm, vintage diners, and classic cars. Known as the “Gateway to the Grand Canyon,” Williams is where history meets adventure.
Here, we’ll take a break for lunch and explore the town, soaking in the nostalgia of America’s most legendary highway.

The Return Ride – A Whole New Perspective

After refueling, we begin our journey back to Sedona, but with a twist—seeing the landscape from the opposite direction offers an entirely new perspective. The mix of graded gravel roads (70%) and paved sections (30%) makes for an exciting ride suited to all skill levels.
By the time we roll back into Sedona, you’ll have experienced a true Arizona adventure—a journey through time, history, and some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the Southwest.
